Setup Auto-Update

If you are using Aeris on a network, this feature can save you a lot of time and effort when you install a program upgrade or a free maintenance release update. It lets you define a master copy of Aeris that all other work stations on the network will use as a source of new program files. This lets you install an update or upgrade on only the master computer and the other work stations will update their files from the master automatically the next time the program is run.

On the Network Auto-Update Setup screen, enter the full path to the network computer you are designating as the master. You can also click the Browse button to navigate to and select the path, which is useful to prevent typing errors on long path names. You can use either a mapped drive for the path or the full UNC path name (as in the sample screen above). If you use a mapped drive letter, be sure to set it up to reestablish the network connection and mapped drive when the computer is restarted.

It doesn't matter which computer is designated as the master. Use whatever computer is most convenient. However, because the master computer will be the first one to be updated with a new program, it makes the most sense to use the same computer as where you store the data files. You really don't want to have to wait for the computer to upgrade any changed data files that are stored on a remote work station.
